2011 Adobe Design Achievement Awards

The Adobe Design Achievement Awards recognize innovative students and faculty members who AMAZE the world. Finalists will receive Adobe software and a trip to Taipei, Taiwan, where they will be honored in an awards ceremony during the 2011 IDA Congress set for October 24-26, 2011. Category winners also will receive a cash award of US$3000.

010 Gallery Accepting Submissions

The 010 Gallery is taking submissions for exhibitions for the Spring Semester 2011. The application is on the website for downloading at www.twu.edu/visual-arts on the front page, the sidebar info, and top of the Student Organization page. Tabitha Salazar is heading the group handling the application process and voting this semester. Any questions go to her at: gallery010@yahoo.com.

The deadline is Dec. 6th with Voting on Dec. 8th and 9th.

TWU Annual Art Alliance Student Art Competition

The 2010 Art Alliance Student Art Competition will be held November 15 - December 1, 2010. Work most have been completed by TWU students in a course taught at TWU within one year of the exhibition. Entries will be accepted at the East Gallery (Visual Arts Building) on Tuesday, November 9th and Wednesday, November 10th between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. or 3:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. Entry forms are available in the Art Office (107), the Gallery Office (108) or online.

Rebrand "Keep Denton Beautiful" Contest

Keep Denton Beautiful (KDB) is a non-profit organization whose mission is inspire individuals to take greater responsibility for creating a clean and beautiful city through litter prevention, reduction of waste, and community beautification. They are looking for a fresh new look that is more exciting, trendier, and more distinctive. They would like a new logo, word mark and tagline.
 

The contest winner will have the opportunity to see their design through to implementation with an unpaid marketing internship. This is a great chance to build a portfolio and gain some “real world” experience.

Part-time Graphic Designer Needed

We're a small, but growing internet company. We provide products and services to the Service Contractor Industries (currently Heating, Air Conditioning, Plumbing, and Electrical). We've been in business for eight years, and we're consistently profitable. 
 
We're looking for a part-time (20-25 hours per week) Graphic Designer Admin to help us create and manage compelling, useful, high quality marketing and other content for our customers (heating, air conditioning, electrical, and plumbing contractors).  We will pay $9 - $15 per hour depending on skills and experience. 
Duties will include:
·     Working with creative team and management to complete content projects on time and to specification
·     Posting content to our website
·     Creating and sending content notification emails
·     Creating forms and templates as requested
·     Communicating with customers effectively via email and telephone in a professional manner that projects a positive company image
·     Maintain project list and complete projects on time
·     Perform other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:
·     1 - 3 years education in Graphic Design, or comparable experience
·     Ideal candidate will have experience or be proficient in the following:
o     Microsoft Publisher (will train if otherwise qualified)
o     Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
o     Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign
·     Ability to work in a production environment

Logo Competition - Florida Blueberry Festival

The City of Brooksville, located in Hernando County, Florida, is hosting the First Annual Florida Blueberry Festival in 2012. The Florida Blueberry Festival Committee is offering talented art students an opportunity to participate for a minimum enrollment fee of $50.

Photo Contest:  The inFocus Campaign

Denton County Friends of The Family present The 2010 inFocus: look at the real message campaign.

How Do I Enter?
The rules are simple.  All participants have the chance to submit original artwork in 1 of the 4 contests:  photo, video, t-shirt design or bill board design to increase the knowledge about interpersonal violence prevention and the media’s impact on violence against women. The inFocus: look at the real message Awareness Campaign 2010 will provide prizes for creating original artwork and short videos on interpersonal violence prevention and the media’s impact on violence against women.  Participants have until Friday, October 22, 2010, to register and to submit their original artwork and/or video.

Selection Process:
The judging panel will select a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winner from each contest on.  All winners will be announced October 29, 2010 (no later than 6:00 pm) on the Denton County Friend of The Family Official Website (www.dcfof.org) and all social media sites used for promotions.  All winners will be contacted (by phone) by a DCFOF employee and they will have to claim their prize in person (must have a valid form of identification).

Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) Help Needed

1. Presentation Creation: Every spring, SIFE competes with a formal 23-minute presentation, and needs a professional looking visual presentation created from the presentation points, pictures, video, etc. provided.

2. Teacher: SIFE hosts a Girl Scouts Interest Project conference at TWU on Nov. 6 (Saturday, 8-5). Teachers need for Media Savvy, AV Production, Graphic Communication, Desktop Publishing, and Computers in Everyday Life classes. Each comes with a set of skills and exercises to cover, and each class will be 3 hours on that Saturday.

Art Exhibition Opportunity - Ramen Republic

Denton’s Asian inspired noodle restaurant – Ramen Republic, is a new venue for Denton’s local artists to display their works of art in a public environment. The partners of the restaurant have a love of the local arts and a commitment to further the interests of our artists.


“Our restored red brick wall is an ideal backdrop for display of local art’” says Charlie Foster who is the founder and managing partner of Ramen Republic, LLC. “We invested in a gallery quality display system that will allow each artist to properly display their works in the manner in which they please” states Foster.


Working with guidance from the Greater Denton Arts Council, Ramen Republic has developed an exhibit plan that will allow artists the chance to display their artwork and also allow them to market the artwork after their exhibition is completed. “We hope to be able to have a large variety of artwork – from photographs to abstract art” states Foster.
